You will be working directly with the Commissioner, managing a portfolio that covers all areas of strategic development and scrutiny across policing, fire and rescue and criminal justice, leading a team of Policy and Scrutiny Officers. You will develop and manage key priority work and innovative policy projects to meet needs and address gaps, and engage the Office in new areas of interest. You will lead the design, configuration and delivery of the scrutiny programme by which the Commissioner holds North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to account. You will manage key stakeholder relationships including with executive managers, Chief Officer Teams and senior partners and stakeholders locally and nationally.

We are looking for a proactive, highly capable individual, with previous experience of policy development and performance management and scrutiny within a large and complex organisation. You will be keen to take the initiative, have a solution-based, analytical approach and work to maximise opportunities, with a proven track record of implementing and developing multiple work streams against well-defined delivery targets. It is essential to possess well-developed communication and interpersonal skills which can be adapted to all levels of the organisation. We will be offering support and development to enable you to make the most of this opportunity.
